NovaBarrier AWB1000 is a liquid applied hybrid air and water barrier that forms a seamless, flexible membrane to keep air and water out of the building envelope, improving energy efficiency and protecting critical penetrations.

NovaBarrier™ AWB1000 is a liquid-applied hybrid air and water barrier engineered to help buildings perform better from the inside out. Its seamless, vapor-permeable membrane helps prevent uncontrolled air leakage and water intrusion while supporting energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and long-term durability.

Designed for real-world jobsite conditions, AWB1000 bonds to most common building materials without a primer, even when surfaces are damp. Whether applied by spray or roller, it creates a flexible, weather-resistant barrier that protects critical transitions, penetrations, and building envelope details.

    Application Instructions
May be applied using a standard 3/8 inch nap roller and is also a sprayable product. Apply at a wet film thickness of 20 mils. Actual coverage will vary depending on substrate porosity and site conditions; at the recommended thickness, coverage is approximately 60–120 ft² per gallon. Cure and dry times will vary based on ambient temperature and humidity conditions.

    Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, structurally sound, and free of debris. Damp surfaces are acceptable provided no standing water is present. Substrate compatibility testing is recommended before proceeding with full installation.

  • FAQs
    What is NovaBarrier AWB1000?

NovaBarrier AWB1000 is a liquid applied hybrid air and water barrier sealant used on commercial and residential building envelopes. It forms a seamless, flexible membrane that blocks air infiltration and water intrusion while remaining vapor permeable.

Can AWB1000 be applied in wet weather?

Yes. AWB1000 bonds and cures in wet weather and can be applied to damp surfaces. There are no weather delays during install, apply it and move on.

    Does AWB1000 require a primer?

No. AWB1000 has primerless adhesion to most common building materials and transition substrates, including damp surfaces.

    How is AWB1000 applied?

AWB1000 can be sprayed or rolled. It’s applied at 20 mils wet to form a continuous barrier across the substrate.

What surfaces does AWB1000 bond to?

AWB1000 adheres to most common building materials and transition materials used in commercial and residential construction, including substrates that are damp at the time of application.

Is AWB1000 the same as liquid flashing?

AWB1000 can be used as a rollable liquid flashing in addition to its primary role as an air and water barrier. For dedicated flashing at rough openings, penetrations, and transitions, NovaBarrier LF1000 is the purpose-built companion product.

What color and size does AWB1000 come in?

AWB1000 is available in black, packaged in 5 gallon pails.

What is the shelf life of AWB1000?

AWB1000 has an 18 month shelf life when stored according to manufacturer guidelines.
